Iceman first appeared in the very first edition of The-Men comics back in September 1963. He’s one of the founding members of the X-Men and has the ability to manipulate ice and water by freezing water vapour around him. He gained widespread media attention when it was revealed in The All New X-Men #40 that he was gay.

Created by Stan Lee, he admitted that the character was based on The Human Torch only using the opposite element of his power. He has been a mainstay across films, comics and animated series. He first manifested his abilities when defending his date from a bully who tried to take her while on a date with Iceman, to which he turned the bully into a block of ice.
